Marvin was born in 1966 in Ashington, a mining town in the North East of England.
He took a keen interest in art from a very early age. This love affair, he attributes to his father, who was an extraordinary talent in this sphere as a young child. Unfortunately this talent went unfulfilled due to career choice. Marvin decided that he owed it to his father to fully exploit what ability he had inherited.
Marvins artistic ability was first recognised during his primary school education, where he was awarded best artist in the school. Following his school education he enrolled on a 3 year Graphic Design Course. He then attended Sunderland Polytechnic where he studied Technical Illustration, Photography and Art History.
Still developing his trade as a painter, Marvin worked in a picture framers for 3 years before finally becoming a full time professional artist. He has a wide range of subject matter but especially enjoys figurative work.
His work has been sold to many private collections in the UK, USA and South Africa. Many galleries throughout the North East of England have also represented Marvins work.
Marvin recently won an award for International Artist Magazine with his Sleeping Tulips. The painting was also published in the International Artist Annual 100 Ways to Paint Still Life and Florals.
